About me

I am a lifelong admirer of nature and the outdoors and have always had a keen interest in the natural world around me.

I studied photographic and visual studies at UEA (University of East Anglia), learning skills in composition and visual structure which I apply when designing and working on gardens.

After university I worked for the Broads Authority in Norfolk as an assistant countryside ranger, helping to conserve and maintain the national park. I gained a number of land-based qualifications in my time at the broads.

On moving to Brighton I became part of the innovative Magpie Recycling     Co-op, becoming manager of the gardening and garden waste recycling department. During my time at Magpie I studied horticulture at Plumpton College, and went on to study garden design.

In 2009,  I set up my own gardening business and, six years down the line, it’s growing from strength to strength.

I either work on my own or with a small skilled team, often including my trusty four-legged companion, Whisper

Hi Dan, I just need a one off garden tidy-up. I only have a small frot garden in Edburton Avenue just up the road from you. I have just let it go a bit and now it is too much for me to handle as I don’t have the right tools for the job. I was just wondering if you could please come and do this for me? You have the most lovely website and I like the way you have said that you can give advice on planting. I have ivy in my hedge that I would like taken out. It is mainly weeds growing in the gravel and a small border that just needs weeding and the hedge needing cutting please. It would probably take you no time at all! but I do not have time to do it myself. As soon as you can fit me in would be fabulous. How much do you charge per hour? Thank you so much Dan. Best wishes Alison. 🙂

Hi Alison,
Thanks for your kind remarks about my website. Unfortunately I’m unable to help as am in the process of moving away to Norfolk and can’t fit anything else in before the move. My apologies and best wishes,
